On an unspoiled 30-acre site overlooking the Missouri River Valley, Avera Sacred Heart Hospital and the Benedictine Sisters, who sponsor the hospital, calculated an estimated $15 million continuing care campus.  This facility consists of a 40-acre site for a replacement 113-bed skilled nursing facility and a new independent and assisted living facility.  The campus includes a skilled nursing facility, independent apartments, assisted living, dementia care, adult day services, and a chapel as the community’s centerpiece.  Enhanced privacy and an intimate, home-like environment were among key concerns. GLTArchitects developed a neighborhood concept with “wings” of 18 residents.  Each wing has a fireplace lounge area overlooking the beautiful Missouri River Valley.
