SCTCC Health Sciences Building
St. Cloud Technical & Community CollegeSt. Cloud, MN
As identified in their long-range plan, St. Cloud Technical & Community College purchased the neighboring Health Partners building. GLTArchitects was hired first to develop the pre-design, and later to complete the architectural and interior design for the renovation.
The remodeled Health Sciences Building consolidates six medical and dental programs into one facility. The plan was to create flexible, synergistic, multi-use and cross-disciplinary spaces to allow all the programs the opportunity to best train its students for the 21st Century.
To control costs, existing construction was maintained where feasible. For example, existing exam rooms were repurposed as offices, and waiting rooms became lounges. An opening in the second floor was filled in to allow better utilization of the space. Half walls and interior windows were used to improve sight lines and allow students to be observed.
This renovation included identifying aspects of the existing building that did not meet current MnSCU standards and mitigating where possible.
Overall project covering 53,000 s.f at $4.9 Million.
