GLTArchitects - Great River Children's Museum

beloved destination for families

Since opening its doors in June, the Great River Children’s Museum has quickly established itself as a beloved destination for families near and far. In just a few short months, more than 52,000 visitors have walked through the museum, representing over 1,100 zip codes and 41 states. The museum has also welcomed over 1,000 members, hosted nine field trips, and benefited from the support of volunteers who have contributed more than 2,100 hours of their time.

This early momentum speaks not only to the demand for a space like this in our region, but to the collective effort behind its creation. What began as an ambitious vision has become a lively, engaging environment where learning, play, and connection happen every day. The museum’s design supports exploration and movement, inviting children to discover while encouraging adults to participate alongside them.

Celebrating the Early Success of
the Great River Children’s Museum

Natural light, intuitive circulation, and playful architectural elements work together to create a space that feels welcoming and full of possibility. Every corner encourages curiosity, reinforcing the museum’s role as both an educational resource and a joyful gathering place for the community.

Already, the Great River Children’s Museum has become a cultural anchor for St. Cloud. Schools are incorporating visits into their curriculum, families are returning again and again, and community partnerships continue to grow. The building itself stands as a reminder of what thoughtful design can achieve—supporting creativity, strengthening community, and creating lasting impact.

This is a place built for families, and its success is a direct reflection of the care, collaboration, and creativity that shaped it.
