GLTA Architects Receives 2005 Adaptive Re-use Award

ST. CLOUD --The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota has awarded Grooters Leapaldt Tideman Architects a 2005 Adaptive Re-use Award for work on the Hunstiger Building, 819 West St. Germain Street in downtown St. Cloud.  Restoring the building to reflect its original 1886 storefront façade, GLT replaced storefront and second-story windows and brick corbelling, exposed and refinished original wood floors, and created an open floor plan on both levels to accommodate a variety of tenants.  The building is on the National Register of Historic Places.  Since 1990, GLTArchitects has received several Preservation Alliance awards for its commitment to adaptive re-use and preservation.  Among them are the following:

  • 1991 Saint Teresa Hall, College of Saint Benedict,
    St. Joseph, MN
  • 1999 Honor Award - Paramount Theatre, St. Cloud, MN
  • 2002 Honor Award - Lakeville Area Arts Center, Lakeville, MN
  • 2004 Adaptive Re-use - Monastery Main Building, St. Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph, MN
