Art Grants for Education 2007-08

Please read the rules section below before completing the grant application.

About the Grants

         The maximum amount awarded to any individual project will be $500.

         The grant must directly benefit or provide arts experience for primarily K -12 youth.

         Applicant organizations and the majority of those who will benefit from the grant must be located within the area served by the Sartell-St. Stephen, St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids-Rice, and/or Rocori School Districts.

         Any not-for-profit organization may apply for an Architects for the Arts grant. Organizations that are not yet approved for tax-exempt status may apply through a non-profit fiscal agent, who will receive and disburse the funds awarded.

         Applicants must submit six (6) full copies of the completed application and any supporting materials.

         Project grant dollars may not be used to cover staff pay for regular hours and/or administrative duties.

         Grants may not be used to provide general operating support, endowments, capital expenditures, fundraising events, scholarships, or deficiencies in other projects.

         Grant recipients will be required to file a follow-up report within three months of completing the project.

Criteria used by the AFA board reviewing an application:

…    Artistic Quality and merit of the project, including uniqueness and creativity of the project.

…    Ability of the applicant to complete the project.

…     Need or demand for this project that is not being met by schools or by other community activities.

…     Potential of this project to stimulate additional arts activities or to expand upon past projects.

Some examples of appropriate AFA grants:

  • Artist-in-residence programs

  • Field trips to fine arts performances

  • Projects that are educational in nature and that occur during the school day or outside the traditional school day
