The Firm

Grooters Leapaldt Tideman Architects is a successful 30-year-old firm responsible for designing many of the area's most exciting architectural projects, particularly in the education, municipal, ecclesiastical and senior housing arenas. Currently, the firm employs 15 people, including eight registered architects. Our work environment is "family-friendly" and collaborative. With each assignment, we strive for architectural and artistic integrity while meeting our clients' needs. GLTArchitects promotes a team approach to architecture and encourages professional growth.

The Community

Set on the banks of the Upper Mississippi, St. Cloud is located 50 miles northwest of Minneapolis and St. Paul, off interstate 94. The city itself includes 60,000 people, and the statistical metropolitan area numbers more than 155,000 people. St. Cloud is a commercial, artistic, health care, recreational and education center for central Minnesota and thus, offers many amenities and opportunities not found in most cities of this size. Cost of living is significantly less in St. Cloud than in the Twin Cities, and the private and public schools are reputed to be some of the best in the state. In addition to being accessible to the Twin Cities, St. Cloud is also conveniently located to northern Minnesota, with its many outdoor recreational opportunities.

Architect / Architectural Intern

The Position

This position is ideally suited to the candidate who is looking to grow professionally by taking on increasing levels of responsibility and expressing their creativity in a medium-sized, dynamic, central Minnesota architectural firm. We are looking for someone with energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and a willingness to grow with a growing firm. The successful candidate will be self-directed, have creative problem-solving, critical-thinking and emerging leadership skills. This position will appeal to those who want to do significant architectural work without the bureaucracy and challenges of working for a large firm.

Candidate Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. in architecture
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred
  • Three years' experience in an architectural firm.  Experience in all phases of design development through construction documents and construction administration required.
  • Minnesota registration preferred
  • Understanding of cold weather construction detailing
