Preservation / Re-Use

GLTArchitects has extensive experience with historic preservation, restoration and adaptive re-use of existing buildings.  Our portfolio includes a wide variety of public and private projects spanning several building types.

Historic preservation and adaptive re-use of existing facilities presents several challenges including building and accessibility code compliance issues.  Our efforts in planning designs to conserve old buildings tie a place’s history with its historic character to meet today’s energy efficiency and local and historic preservation design standards.

Our architects and designers work with state and local officials to adapt existing facilities to meet current requirements while maintaining the integrity and character of the building.  We work with the preservation and community groups as well as city authorities and private developers to restore structures that preserve the integrity of the past and that address the complicated demands of the future.

With our offices located in historic downtown St. Cloud Minnesota, we are also invested in the preservation and revitalization of our downtown.  Through our involvement in the Downtown Council and Historic Preservation Commission, we demonstrate our commitment to vibrant, historic preservation.
