Higher Education

GLTArchitects has worked with colleges and universities for over 25 years.  Our clients include both public and private higher educational institutions throughout Minnesota and the upper Midwest.  Our architects and designers understand the role higher education facilities play in enhancing the learning, teaching, cultural and social life of the institution and surrounding communities.

Our portfolio includes designs for student services, academic classroom and lab spaces, student housing, food service, athletic, recreation, and health clinic facilities.  While many projects involve new facilities, we also specialize in transforming dated campus facilities to meet current and future needs.  In addition to building projects, our experience includes space utilization studies, master planning, campus identity and pre-design services.

Reducing operating costs through sustainable and energy efficient design is a goal for all of our projects.  Having prepared detailed campus emissions inventories and climate action plans, we have a thorough understanding of the potential with each project to decrease emissions and save operating costs.  Our designers also understand the role an efficient and sustainable campus can have on student recruitment and retention.
